building books with exchess

hello,
I am trying to build start_bk.dat (equivalent to Crafty's books.bin) using the "build" command. There doesn't seem to be any documentation on how to use this command to build both books. Basically I'm trying to get the program to stop playing the Roy Lopez and to vary it's opening lines..
