Hi Frank,
I think "ponder on /ponder off" or "how mny ELO to get by using tablebases?" isn't a good question to answer with yes/no or to vote for. IMO it's better to test this.

I think "ponder on /ponder off" or "how mny ELO to get by using tablebases?" isn't a good question to answer with yes/no or to vote for. IMO it's better to test this.

Ich dachte an Fragen wie ...
4-pieces Nalimov or Edwards TBs
Tablebases = 5 ELO
Tablebases = 10 ELO
Tablebases = 10-20 ELO
Tablebases = 20-40 ELO
Tablebases = 40-60 ELO
Tablebases = more 60 ELO
Das selbe bei Ponder = On oder Off !
Die Ergebnisse und Eindrücke verschiedener Personen die sich vielleicht mit diesen Fragen beschäftigt haben gehen weit auseinander. Daher wäre es interessant zu wissen wie so der Querschnitt über diese Fragen denkt. Allerdings ist mir bewußt das sich evtl. an den beiden Fragen nicht so sehr viele Personen beteiligen.
Interessanter schon die Frage mit der Zeitkontrolle !
Das waren aber auch nur Ideen, sicherlich gibt es sehr viel bessere Möglichkeiten interessante Umfragen zu starten !
Mehr als eine Umfrage pro Woche will ich auch gar nicht starten, ich denke das reicht völlig aus !

I downloaded the Edwards TBs fo an old Crafty, they took up 260mb space!
I would not even know or have an opinion on this.
That's probably the ideal question for a poll in the Winboard Ticker. What would be the ideal time control for Winboard engine/engine games? And maybe, what time control do you prefer to play against Winboard programs yourself using? Personally, I like 60 moves in 10 or 15 minutes, usually 10.
