The calibration made for the Battle of the crowns (I guess you refer to that rating list) is based on cpus faster than 300MHz, so that a 500Mhz cpu can be considered as average. On my P166 at 60 moves in 60 minutes. Ponder off, 16mb hash each.

A 60 minutes game in a pentium 166 is almost equivalent to a 20 minutes game on a 500MHz cpu, and that's just a bit more than a common blitz game.

Yes, you are right, I was making it simple. Anyway 60 moves in 60 minutes on your computer (and on mine too) is like a 60 moves in 20 minutes on a 500MHz, and that's also out of the Dann Corbit's rules for the battle of the crowns. The calibration made for the Battle of the crowns (I guess you refer to that rating list) is based on cpus faster than 300MHz, so that a 500Mhz cpu can be considered as average. On my P166 at 60 moves in 60 minutes. My games are played at 60 moves in 60 minutes, not 60 minutes for the whole game. There is a difference! I don't see how testing on machines of different 'speeds' would affect the relative results too much if using a sensible time control.
