If anyone sees the problem with Yace not reading the ini file, please send me an email along with the Winboard.debug file.
If many persons would run mini-tournaments with /debug turned on, that would be helpful to try and diagnose the intermittent oddity.
Look in the Yace subdirectory, of course.

Yace notes for this version:
You can't use xboard or -xboard on the command line. Yace tries to open a file by that name and fails.
You must put the command xboard in yace.ini. Here, for instance, is my yace.ini
tbldir e:\programme\winboard\nalimov
log dum2.log
hash 32M
xboard

Why does your version need a xboard command? Mine doesn't.
Best wishes...

Yes. Perhaps this is the reason, for the problems reported. Volker, can you check?
This shouldn't be needed, and is not needed here. Winboard (and Fritz and ChessAssistant) allways sends xboard at the start. If you sometimes run Yace
without an GUI, you get nicer PVs, when there is no xboard in yace.ini.
BTW. yace.ini is not special at all. Anything there can also be typed at the
Yace command prompt.
Here, for instance, is my yace.ini
Besides the xboard, I would suggest to put log as the first line. Then it can be seen from the log, if initialization of the table bases was correct.

Actually, it does not. I only thought it did. I used to supply xboard on the command line (which was also in error) but it worked anyway. Since I removed xboard from the command line, I thought it was needed in the ini file.
