Hi Winboarders !
I don't consider good to dispute furiously about an issue.
Tony carry things too far, this thing is nonentity.
Many programs uses unfair routines, for EXAMPLE higher priority of thread, OR pondering in background!
You can try it!
It will always problem In ONE processor - resources using !
This is not vexed!

Well.
I will made a new version of crux, and rewrite his code, without persistent thread!

Szia, Laszlo!
You are perfectly wright.
Why they talk about Crux only?
An example:
Tristram uses 40-50% of CPU at opponents move in easy mode,
Skaki even 55-65%!
I was wondering about good results of Skaki in League C(5 1/2 of 8 after round 4, playing against Colchess,Storm,Monik and Faile), but then I run TaskInfo...
Minden jot,
Gyorgy

You're missing the point completely.

They talk about Crux, because someone tested its cpu usage without pondering and found it unacceptable for a fair game. Nothing more, nothing less. The same would apply to any other program that doesn't behave correctly in eng-eng matches with ponder off. Claiming that other programs do the same isn't a valid excuse. As soon as someone can assure me that Crux 0.18R behaves properly, I'll include it in my tournament.
That is unacceptable as well and I find that most programs should be tested to make sure that this doesn't happen. If you have information regarding an unfair percentage of cpu usage of any program, use this forum to relate the information or inform Frank for his detail pages. It's very simple IMO.
Best wishes...

Yes?
and please, explain to me, what is the meaning of "fair play" on ONE PROCESSOR ( Win9x)?
Namely the usage of resources is perfectly instabil !

That may be, but a few percent here and there doesn't matter that much IMHO. But using almost 50% percent of the opponents cpu time on purpose is an entire different matter. The problems of Skaki and Tristram is mentioned in Franks detail pages, so any use is at your own risk.
Is that supposed to be an insult?
Yes, and I'm very grateful. I'll include Crux in my tournament ML-9 to see how good it is against low to medium strength programs.
Best wishes...
