I've never tried Dann's collection of tablebases, hopefully he'll see your post and speak up, maybe Monday (?). But you can try putting them in a subdirectory of Crafty's directory (call the subdirectory TB) and then double click on Crafty's exe file (don't bother with Winboard for this) and Crafty will tell you if it sees those tablebases. If Crafty doesn't see them you'll have to rename them one by one. You also need to worry about if they're compatible with other Chess programs like Comet, Inmi, Bringer (many more) because they all use Namilov tablesbases to (if you got them and tell them where to find them)
No problem.

I heard that Crafty >= 17.x will use only compresed TB. I am not sure because I don't play VS engines too often.
