Hi,
starting next sunday (26/03) on 1pm GMT a few people will meet on FICS to play some computer games via internet.
So far we are ...
Volker Pittlik: Crafty SMP 17.10
Clemens Keck: Nimzo 2000
Myself: Fritz 6a
Settings are: 60 min +5 sec
We think about meeting on a regular basis, like every sunday or so, and are looking for some more participants. The idea is to create something like an international computer chess league with matches being held on FICS. It should be far more convient to meet "on the net" than to travel around the world to play other programs. Any program is welcome, all you need is a bit of time to spend and a FICS account (www.freechess.org). That's it!
If you are interested taking part or if you have got any more questions, please email me at
schwartmann@netcologne.de

Regards,
Andreas

I can play on Sat/sundays but I'm on a different time zone so, I'm not sure what that translates to...
Also, I don't have a Computer account for FICS, and i have no idea how to setup anyway..So perhaps I can relay moves manually using my account?
Aaron

Attention Aaron!

Hello Aaron,
I tried to answer you by email but I received an error message. Hence this:
Final-Recipient: RFC822; aarontay@hotmail.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Remote-MTA: DNS; mail.hotmail.com
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 552 Requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation
Last-Attempt-Date: Sun, 26 Mar 2000 12:36:26 +0200 (MET DST)

Hello Aaron!
Thanks for your interest!
It is actually very easy. Just register at www.freechess.org, get yourself a handle, log into FICS (with winboard) and then we can play! Moves will be entered manually, the FICS/winboard interface is just a means of transferring moves conviniently.
1 pm GMT transfers to 6 am EST, although there might be a bit of confusion now, because daylight saving time started in europe today. Are you on DST too? Where do you live and what program would you like to play with?
Maybe we can get something together for the next days!
Take care!
Andreas

Yes..It's fine now..

Okay. I have a FICS account just not a computer (c) one..

I live in Singapore, which is on the Equator, i think it's about 7-8 hours ahead of GMT.. so are you 5 hours ahead or behind GMT?

Of the commericals I got Fritz6a and Chessmaster7000 . I also can work most of the free/sharewares .
I would like to try CometB18-2 or maybe Goliath , and as for the commerical maybe chessmaster
Aaron
