Resign values?

At what levels do you set the chess programs to resign? I'm lowering the setting to resign for most when the score goes below -6 ..Is this too aggressive?
But I'm kinda impatent espically now that I'm testing gromit and the rest at time controls of 40moves/40 minutes.
In fact , losing a piece -3 is probably game over, but to be safe, would resigning at -5 be okay?

I use -5 whenever possible, if it means anything.
Sincerely,
