Okay a little off topic..
The reason I'm asking is because there's a chance I will get to play him next week in a inter University team tournament held in Singapore..
This is not a Simul..but one on one..! There's no chance of suriving even more than 25 moves. But i was kidding with my friend that I would somehow use crafty to "asisst" me.
LOL!
but I think even Crafty would be hard pressed in this case..Time control 2hrs all moves..
There's another Iceland GM as well., but he's "just" 2400+..
As I was one of the organisers of this tournament, I was actually toying with the idea of having a exhbit match between Crafty and GM Peng Xiaomin, to drum up some press coverage, but the others over-ruled me..
This is probably one of the few times, I get to meet really strong players, so i must really cherish this chance..I met and played GM Anand, a few years back as well..But never got to speak to him..
Besides "resigns" and one "check" I think..

Wow and good luck!
I think Crafty is a strong competitor even to grandmasters. It depends on time control and hardware I think (fast time control is an advantage for the program). On ICC GMs are playing Crafty running on Dr.Hyatt's quad xeon very often. And it seems they are not winning all the time.
So I suggest: get the strongest box you can get (800+ MHz whatever, overclocked dualboard) and ask them if they would like to play. That would be a great event IMO.

I'm going to need more than a miracle. Assuming I play him (depends on the board he is placed) , it will be one of the most one-sided games ever , the rating difference would be almost a record for a serious tournament game..I'm probably no better than 1600 (USCF or whatver, it doesn't really matter unless BCF?) !!
Currently he is ranked 35th in the world, one spot above Judit Polgar..!
The other players in his team the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics include 3 WGMS -all ranked around 8 to 10th for females and one IM..So no matter who I play it's going to be interesting..

Assume 2hrs..for all moves..

Unfortunately i can only use the University computers ..And those are old Slow PII/300 computers..

Indeed..But for it to work , like the "GM challenge" held by Rebel, I probably have to get some fast hardware, raise some money for a stake/prize etc..
Maybe ask permission from the author (otherwise, if the engine wins, I would be profiting from his efforts)
Well maybe I should start planning for next year!
A tiny self promotion , go to http://www.ntu.edu.sg/studorgn/ntuchess/mainpage.html to see the University teams partipating in the 2nd "Global Youth Tertitary Institutes Chess Challenge 2000.They are

Cornell University (US)
Oxford University (UK)
Madras University (India)
Osmania University (India)
Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (China)
University of Iceland (Iceland)
Multi-Media University (Malaysia)
National University of Singapore (Singapore)
Singapore Polytechnic (Singapore)
Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
We definitely aim to attract more teams this year..Unfortunately this year, we didn't have a budget to host more teams..Maybe some French,German teams next year?

Okay back to your scheduled Winboard comments..Thanks Volker for not deleting this off topic post

I offer my overclocked dualboard for playing on a server of your choice. The only thing I can't offer is a price fund. Please contact me by mail if you are interested.
