Could someone who has Windows NT 4 please get this new, completely remade GNU Chess 5 and tell me how to set it up right?
ftp://38.168.214.175/pub/NewGnu/
It's giving me cross-eyed hissy-fits and I'm running out of ideas.
It's a complete remake and uses bitboards now.

Dann,
I found if you create a directory under Winboard and set it up like any other engine it will play, but before it will you need to copy gnuchess.lan from your winboard directory to the directory you create. Also I was not able to get it to access the opening book. My winboard.ini entry looked like this...
\"Gnuchess xboard\" /fd=E:\\winboard\\NewGnu
Hope that helps, if you get the opening book working let me know.

HOORAY!!!
The gnuchess.lan file was the thing that was preventing the whole ball of wax from working.
Since I have the source, I can easily address the opening book problem.

The only way to use the new version correctly is to rename the gnuchess.exe in the Winboard directory to something else or rename the gnuchess.exe file.
In the path search (for NT at least) it finds the gnuchess.exe that lives in the
c:\program files\winboard
directory instead of the one in the folder for gnu chess.
