SOS 991103 - help needed!

Something curious happened I cannot explain. I have an AMD K6_III/450-128 PC and a P3/650-128 notebook. On my AMD-PC SOS is running fine under WinBoard but I have tried everything and without success on my notebook. The WinBoard-GUI starts but the program "refuses" to make a move. Especially funny: It is (only on my notebook) impossible to delete the files "CYGWIN1.DLL" and "g1000_1" because Win98 is claiming "access denied" or "files being in use". Does anyone have an explanation?

Hmm, Is winboard running when you try to delete those files? If so, it makes sense..
As for why SOS runs on your PC but not notebook...Well I have no idea since SOS 9911103 doesn't work on my pc..

WinBoard is not running when I try to delete those files. It even happens without starting WinBoard at all.

Since others have already answered your serious questions, let me note that:
SOS (Save Our Ship) is an international code for "Help Needed" and that further, a substring of 991103 (911) is the US telephone code for emergency help.
I just thought the title was ironic.

It goes without saying that I have of course also rebooted my notebook, started with a boot disk and deleted the files "CYGWIN1.DLL" and "g1000_1" but this did not solve the problem.

Hallo Christian
Habe ich natürlich schon längst gemacht und läuft unter "I have tried everything", aber eben ohne Erfolg.
Lösche alles mögliche, aber nicht die CYGWIN1.dll! Die wird gebraucht!
Denkbare Fehlerursache: zuwenig Hauptspeicher. SOS braucht 20 MB hash fix.

After experiencing the same problem on my laptop (The WinBoard-GUI starts but the program "refuses" to make a move) and could not find any workaround si I tried the previous version of SOS (october instead of november I guess) which worked fine.
You can find it on Frank Pages.

Selbst mit 40 MB freiem Speicher geht es nicht. In der Zwischenzeit habe ich den Geist aufgegeben, SOS doch noch zum Laufen zu bringen.
