I can't play the variations

I saved a game with a lot of variations a long time ago. When I opened the game on winboard and right clicked on the variations in the comment when it popped up, my move history didn't change to the variation and I can't play it. What's wrong?

The variations (and other comments, except engine score/depth) are not displayed in the Move History. (This might be a good idea, though.) They are only displayed in the Comment popup window. (And only for a single move at the time.) You will have to start WinBoard with the option /autoDisplayComment=true to make that window pop up automatically for ever move that has a comment.
