Goyaz - new version

Hi,

There is a new version of Goyaz available.

There are some changes and the strength increased. The time allocation is different, so it will play better just for not stop thinking in the middle of a ply.

I got an AMD with 2 cores to test, so I hope it will work on computers with 2 cpus/cores (the previous version didn't work). If you had problems with the previous version on this type of cpu, try the new one and tell me if it works.

Thanks!

Wander

Old thread but I don't know if anyone else has trouble accessing the Goyaz website like I do. I get a download box wanting to download a html file when I click the Goyaz website link. I tried with several different browsers and with javascript on and off.

http://wferreirajr.googlepages.com/index.htm

http://wferreirajr.googlepages.com/index-en.htm

So I downloaded the html file and I'm not sure if this is the reason for the website not showing up in my browser or not, but the html files for the website have the graphics as being gif files, but the graphics download as png files. All of the download links for the seven Goyaz engine versions also still work. So the full website is actually on the server.

Maybe just me have having a problem with the box asking to download a html file.

Hello Charles

I just tried, both links are working here, and I was able to download the file. Using IE8.

By the way, the trick to have Goyaz working on multi-core machines is to filter "hard" with inbetween and to send "easy" instead.

Olivier

EDIT : lousy me, I got html file just like you :?

Thanks for the confirmation. I can confirm that the website is fully on the server. May be the graphic extensions causing the problem, a guess (most likely the graphics are not the cause).

Until the Goyaz website is corrected or something. If anyone wants the Goyaz engines this is the English download page.

http://sites.google.com/site/wferreiraj ... yaz-en.htm

All of the engine links on the page don't exactly work though. For versions 2 - 7 the filenames in the web page are lowercase and they would only download for me if they were all uppercase letters. YMMV.

These are all of the engine links corrected so they download.

Hi Charles,
The sites you mentioned down below work OK, but I guess the new version of Goyaz is Nº 8, that is not included at below sites!!

There is no #8 that I know of, #7 is the latest one. I had used this old thread topic to ask if anyone had trouble accessing the Goyaz website since I was having trouble. I just well had began a new thread to ask the question I guess. Sorry to have gotten you all excited over the possibility of a new release.

By the way I had read in an old thread on this forum that you had at that time some 350 Winboard engines in your collection.

Including UCI engines I am up to about 420 individual engines. I have been archiving them for the past few months. Which is why the laptop I was using, failing on me was so gloomy at the time. I'll be finished archiving in a few days but I will not reach 500 engines as I had anticipated.

Hi Charles,
Thanks for clarifying that #7 is the last version of Goyaz. Now I shall sleep better !!! :)
My congratulation for your big collection of Winboard and UCI engines. I do not know which is my actual quantity , since is a long time I do not count them.
Best,
Pablo

Who knows, maybe Goyaz 8 will be released one day, or under some other version name.

With the Goyaz engine looks like I'm going to have in the neighborhood of 459 individually named engines, not including any different versions of those engines. Not a bad little collection for a late searcher. No known clones, or commercial engines that I didn't pay for are there and I didn't save a copy of every engine I came across. When I began the project I determined not to ask people for engines on forums or by other forms of communication. Except for asking for sources for one engine on this forum and on another forum asking for an engine's bookmaker, I held to my original plan. An "if I can't find it on my own, I will live without it" plan.
