old Idea for an Engine...??

long time ago I try to make a big-big database with games (like big opening book) played by big players like Kasparov,Kramnick etc etc...

I would like to know if anyone ever tried this thing...or if there is some information about it

I've done this by simply downloading a lot of PGNs that are available freely on websites by google searching.
