That's good if it's true. But I'm skeptical, and I want to see proof. Maybe Tanya will allow you to offer it for download so that it can be tested. I'm not convinced that someone can do something to Jon Dart's program that will make it significantly stronger than what Jon was able to do himself.
Arasan does play a great game of Chess, I would hope that that element of the program isn't destroyed in the modifications.

Hi Frank,
I got this message also as a personal mail. If this program is really created - great. But I'm a little bit in doubt about that it is not just spam. In fact 3,000,000 GM games haven't been played so far. So lets wait. And if this program is really good, let's test it..., very carefully,...perhaps someone will check this program with this famous "strings" command...
But I am allways open for good news!

You will have to wait quite a while until 3 million gm games will be played.
So the program can't be ready yet. May be in 50 years ?

I'm not really sure if it needs to be checked for strings, we allready know that it'll be Arasan's strings because it'll be a modified Arasan. Tanya allready said what it was based on, and I don't know if that's really a problem.
What I'm most skeptical about is how a person would _need_ to base a program on existing code, and _then_ come out with a program that is significantly stronger than the program that it's based on. Why would Jon Dart have been so blind to these things that have turned Arasan into a program that can beat most other programs.
Two things here; 1, I doubt that a newcomer can do this, and 2, Chess programmers don't normally come to guestbooks to tell you how great their programs are.
I think something is wrong here, but I'd be glad if you could prove me wrong.

Hey Frank,
Well I'd hate to "burst" your bubble on this one, but if that's the same Tanya that I know then there will be NO program at all. I've delt with this guy before, (Yes it's a guy eventhough I think Tanya is a girls name)I delt with him about oohhhh I think 2 months back. I meet this Tanya character on a yahoo chess chat. He said he had come out with the "Greatest Chess Program of All Time" hahahaha what a bum. He sent me his "program" through ICQ. It was a chessbase engine. I figured out that I was Fritzlight. I'm not sure how, but he changed the name of the program so when you loaded it, it wouldn't say "firtzlight" it would say "GrandChess" instead. I figured it out to be a Fritzlight copy for many reasons.
1) Both engines were the exact same size
2) When I played both of them against each other they would always come up with the same analysis, and score etc...
3) They searched almost the exact same Nps. I think it was like 350 normally in mid-game.
So I wouldn't take this fellow to seriously :) But hey! look on the bright side there are TONS of great engines out there. I really don't need anything stronger than crafty, becuase I lose against it EVERYTIME, like most people I guess :)
Oh well...
Take care.
Bye
P.S Oh yeah, great website you have going. Thanks for all your work :)
Bye-Bye
Tommy

Correction:
"I delt with him about oohhhh I think 2 months back." I mean 2 weeks back. I talked with him for a while on Yahoo and conviced him to send me his prog. When I told him that I thought his engine was Fritzlight, he never returned my emails :)
If I'm wrong about this then I truly apologize. But I'm very sure that I'm not wrong.
Bye-Bye

Uli,
