Same to me. I tried \"Cpp1 -mfile moves -iomode xboard\" /fd=d:\\Winboard\\cpp1. It was starting but allways crashing badly.

The same with me. But you can play with in a DOS window with or without the -iomode xboard command line. My first game against it: 1. e4 e6 2. d4 Bb4+ 3. Bd2 Bxd2+ 4. Nxd2 Qh4 5. Ngf3 Qxf2+ ??? etc.

Me too,unable to open CPP1. I tried to contact the programer Folkert van Heusden at folkert@vanheusden.com, this is his webpage email, but the email was retrieved!!!.
Someone must know which winboard.ini command line is needed.
