Hi all,
I just thought I'd write to let people know that I have now made available a winboard version of my chess engine, Green Light.
It is available from my web site: www.7sun.com/chess2.
It's a bit new... I only took a few hours to make it, so I expect that there might be a few bugs in it!

The URL you posted does not work for me, but a web search turned up this one that did:
http://www2.prestel.co.uk/diamond/chess2/index.html
You are too late for the battle of the crowns, but I will begin calibration runs so you can be seeded in the next tournament.

Thanks Tim!
Yesterday Rikus today Green Light. One new engine per day is pretty nice. OTOH I'm afraid I have to ask my provider for more webspace:) I'll update my overview as soon as possible.

Hmmm... It should. I have a redirect from www.7sun.com to www2.prestel.co.uk/diamond. So you are right anyway... the actual web page is www2.prestel.co.uk/diamond/chess2/index.html, but I prefer to use my re-directable address in case I move my IP in future. You could try the more complete: http://www.7sun.com/chess2/index.html
Thanks. :)

Try new engines against a medium strength engine, such as Cilian.. and then make an assessment..

Very often, new engines can make startling progress.
I think some of the ones with biggest promise are not the ones that people would suspect.
You get a ripping time to ply, and you will eventually get a winner if you get the eval right.
The heart of the whole thing is the move generator (and filtering for legality is also extremely important).
A change in the fundamental search algorithm can turn a turtle into a rocket.
