I wish I had known this when I was making a larger book for SCP. Comet does that pretty well. What I finally came up with was using RBM files from Rebel, but that was far too random even though I could select the opening, it was difficult to see what games I was using unless I'd read/savegame with Crafty to first convert them to pgn files. But that was far too tedious. In case you don't find better, you could use the COMET32.EXE.
1. read the pgn file (CTRL I) to read the pgn notation of a game
2. use command "write" from Comet32 to output algebraic notation into file "NEWBOOK.BOK"
You can also use the "pgn->" command to convert a whole pgn file into algebraic notation.I wish I had known this when I was making a larger book for SCP. Comet does that pretty well. I allways forget that the Dos Comet thinks in long algebraic. It actually has all sorts of database features built into it that people don't tent to know about, and it actually does a better job of reading epd positions than Winboard does because it allows me to select which epd out of a file, but Winboard makes you cycle through them. I think Comet's way works better..
