The Windows interface is kind of nice, I wish it had an opening book, but their whole project seems kind of cool.
See their Download page
for all sorts of different versions of BabyChess. I think I like these guys. The program doesn't play amazing Chess, but I like what they've done.

Have you tried under WinBoard. I can't make it move with white, but everything works fine with black. It would be nice to know for the detail pages. I've just finished the Nejmet page, it's late and I'm bushwacked.
Best wishes...

I didn't try it tell you asked, then I realized that I could have downloaded them both in the same zip. It seems to play a very weak game of Chess in Winboard. This must be a new program licenced under GNU licence. Is that true? Hopefully they'll work on it's game and add a book.
The first thing I did was pick the wrong exe, and that didn't work, I'm guessing you did the same thing. I gave it an ini line like for GNUchess5, and this worked:
\"BBch xboard\" /fd=d:\\wbbabych\\bin
So try something like that, it should do the trick.

All good things come to those that wait, so it'll be interesting to see what happens with the program. As far as I'm concerned, a new engine is a good engine.
Nope, I read the readme :o).
I did the same, but it won't play with the white pieces. I'm able to play against it using the white pieces and win quite comfortably. A great confidence booster.
Best wishes...

Sorry, I wasn't paying close enough attention. I messed around with it for a while, and can't make it work. I think it's problem might be from it's commands not really being english. I looked at their site, and to get it to start calculating a move, I think the command was "S", and I'd have to look at a debug file, but I think Winboard would send the engine a signal along the lines of "go" instead of "S".
Again, I'm only guessing. But I think it's a minor problem that could be fixed in a couple minutes if it gets mentioned to them.

For what it's worth, the interface version can play as white, of course this being a Winboard forum, that probably won't interest many people. I very seldom get around to playing as black, so I wouldn't have noticed that problem untill you mentioned it.
