(1)whenever i start SOS (with winboard), my hard disk goes crazy !!!, does this mean that the Hash tables are set too high if so, how can i change it for sos.
And takes a few mins for the first few moves(even though still in book)and have to exit because computer goes crazy. what is the problem?
(2) How many files are there for SOS, i only got 2

I have the same problem with SOS, so I didn't keep the program. I think someone said that it uses 20mb of hashtables and that's too much for my computer, I generally set hashtables at around 6 or 8 mb hashtable, so eventually I want to get more memory, but that's not going to happen for a while.

Hi,
SOS uses only 2 files. The 2 files which are on Franks webpage.
SoS uses 20 MB hashtables. The whole programms takes about 21,3 MB memory on my
computer. SoS runs very fine under Windows2000. I have played 182 games
(60 moves in 10 minutes) so far and in none of the matches SoS crashed.
best regards,
Christian Koch
