Openings with GNUChess 5?

With the new WinBoard 4.0.4 and GNUChess 5,
the program doesn't use the opening book.
(I did not change default settings in any way.)
Any solutions?
Thanks,

... after 1.e2-e4. I've tried it again and
the book responded i.e. after 1.Nf3, 1.d4 and -
with some waiting time - after 1.c4, but it starts
to calculate after 1.e4. A little hole in the
repertoire?

Make sure that the opening book file (book.dat) is in the same directory as the exe file is and then the book should work.

To have the opening book file (book.dat) in the same directory as the exe file does not solve the problem after 1.e2-e4. I present another solution. After starting the WinBoard 4.0.4 with GnuChess5 choose "Reset game" and then all is working properly.

Thanks Kurt,
first I thought this is the soultion, but Gnu 5 plays only 1...Nc6 sometimes, but most often the problem stays the same. I will download WB 4.0.5., although Tim Mann told me, that this has nothing to do with the Gnu opening failure of course. If it doesn't work, I'll try to rename the old book from Gnu 4.
By the way... wie geht's denn Ihrem CXG Super Enterprise?
