New Phalanx XX II / THE SOLUTION

Due to Bryan Kert's helpful report of the error message the solution for the phalanx problem is easy .
You have to add "-o-" in the phalanx-section of your winboard.ini.
Mine has
\"Phalanxf -l+ -t16384 -r900 -o-\" /fd=c:\\PHALANX
README explains here :
-o- ...don't use polling input..
Everything works perfect now .
greetings.

I'm afraid Pete is right. I've just played some blitz games. Phalanx was losing _all_ of them on time :-(

Hm, not on my machine !
Techno win a game in 58 moves and Phalanx in 72 moves, 1 remis in 27 moves !
I see not problems with the time control (Windows 98, 40 moves in 5 minutes, test games, 32 MB for hash, 4 pieces nalimov, AMD K6-3 450 MHz, no learn for Phalanx).
I will play more games in the night !
NT problem ?

NEW NEWS ABOUT THIS PECULIAR PROBLEM!

HELLO AGAIN!:
I'M FACING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT PETER GALATI AND VOLKER PITTLIK FACED TODAY.
THE PROGRAM PLAYS WHEN IT WANTS OR IT DOESN´T PLAY BECAUSE IT STAYS ANALYZING WHEN IT HAS TO MOVE UNTIL THE TIME IS OVER.
THEN, IT LOSES BY TIME!!
HOWEVER, WHEN I PROVED THE PROGRAM IN THE FRITZ5.32 ENVIROMENT, IT DIDN'T HAVE
ANY PROBLEM. I COULD PLAY WITHOUT PROBLEMS UNDER THE FRITZ 5.32 ENVIROMENT.
IF YOU HAS AN EFECTIVE REASON FOR THE PROGRAM UNUSUAL BEHAVIOR,
I'D THANK YOU A LOT IF YOU CAN RESPONSE BY THIS SAME WAY.
TRULY YOURS, BRYAN KERT.

The dll file should not be needed with a program compiled by Dann because he uses a Microsoft compiler and not Cygnus that would have been used to compile previous versions of Phalanx.

I am having problems with the new Phalanx too, running under Win 2000. However, I think that you, Frank, do not have any problems because you are not using sudden death controls as I am, say game in 5, or game in 3. Try sudden death, and I will try you time controls. OK? :))

If you see a green light glowing that says "Caps Lock" then give your Caps-Lock key a poke. Our ears may thank you for it.
