I must echo what Frank has to say about configuration of programs.
I receive as many emails about it as he does, and try to quickly answer some of them, but it is much better to use this board to solve them.
Since I am getting 300 Amy downloads per hour, I sincerely hope that the original author is not being pestered by request to figure out how to make it work.
Please use this board for that purpose. Imagine 120 emails at two minutes each. That would take four hours. And the questions are almost always the same things.

Thanks for providing the opening book Frank, I was just getting around to trying Amy again today, there's no problems whatsoever that I know about. I haven't put hashtables into the command line yet, but it's no trick at all to make it work.
I used the one in the release directory and your book, everything works good, & thanks Dann for compiling Amy.

I haven't tried Amy yet but have tried other programs building their books out of pgn.
An extremely nice pgn-file to start with is 2600.zip from Dann Corbitt's ftp-site . It is about 5MB zipped ( 17MB unzipped ) and the games are from very good human players .

I used the Elista Olympiad (1998) games for building a book for Amy. This PGN file is about 3 MB and contains more than 4000 games. Quality is uneven, but most programs use filters anyway, I guess.

I forgot to mention that you'll probably find the Elista games at Dann Corbit's site soon.

Great stuff indeed. I have a book for amy out of this. If you like you can down load the book: here! (5 MB).

Yes, thanks for sending those. They will be folded into the big update I am doing. I will approximately double the size of the PGN collection on my site soon.
I am still looking for PGN files. Now is your chance to have your games immortalized.
;)
I have several thousand downloads per day of my PGN files. So if you send me your contests hundreds of thousands or even millions of people will look at them.
On second thought, maybe you'd better not send them.
;-)
