I have just finished running a tournament at (2 minutes/2 seconds per move) involving what are arguably the best six WB engines on my computer. The result:
AnMon 505 15.5/20 (+14 =3 -3)
Crafty 1705 12.0/20 (+10 =4 -6)
Goliath 2000 v.2 11.5/20 ( +9 =5 -6)
TCB 0045 8.5/20 ( +7 =3 -10)
SOS 6.5/20 ( +5 =3 -12)
Phalanx 22 6.0/20 ( +4 =4 -12)
Notes: Goliath started (+5 =2 -0) but, obviously, tailed off. On the other hand, TCB started off a flat (-5) but recovered nicely. SOS, as poor as its result was overall, was entertaining: two slashing wins against Crafty (one game featuring a Tal-like King-side assault, complete with a bishop sacrifice, never wise against Crafty). AnMon was superb, winning 10 of its last 11 games; I knew it was good, but the margin of victory surprises me. I have never before had a tournament winner, at any time control, other than some version of Crafty. But now, for the moment, AnMon rules the machine.
