Shredder seems to prepare to overtake leadership in this tournament. congratulations to stefan for his program. it fights for the 1st rank now.
one of the strength of shredder is, that it almost always plays very positional and save moves. it has natural pawn structures, plays very active (important) and has very deep selective peeks.
the search seems to be state of the art and in whole: it plays very very solid. no wonder that cstal (in a match harald faber did) failed to play good against shredder. shredder risks nothing. it plays like richard langs programs in solid-mode :-)) only much stronger. how to beat shredder ? where ? in endgame ? no. in middlegame ? no.
and since detlef pordzik made a good opening book, even the opening is not so easy to fight out against shredder. if shredder would have a weakness somewhere ? maybe in tactics. maybe this is one major reason
that tiger was able (in my test games before paderborn championship) to get 50% against it. because tiger is very strong in tactics.
chessmaster and zarkov follow. this old program chessmaster is still one of the best things johann de koning ever produced. zarkov gets stronger and stronger the more john works at it (although it seems to be more and more toughter to make it stronger, the longer you work on it :-)) and junior of course, the new chessbase leader. where the hell is tiger ? ranked 11, hm. tiger plays to passive in the moment. hope christophe can change this. very sad for swiss-tournaments.
you have a good program, but because it plays passive, it gives away points or makes draws. for longer matches this is different.

Who, when, what post? I will delete it at once.
Your tournament is very interesting, but please don't start one of this senseless flame wars here. Thanks.
