maybe off topic : how to denote time control?

If time control is written as G/5mins, does it mean 5 mins each, or 5 mins for both programs in total (i.e. 2 and a half mins each)?
Is G/300 a better way to write G/5mins?
Thanks.

When I use G/5 mins I mean 5 minutes each.

I don't think there is a difference. Any standards anywhere?

The PGN standard includes a standard way to write time controls in the TimeControl tag, but it's probably not the answer to your question. It would write your example as just "300". That means 300 seconds for each player for
the (rest of) the game.
For details, see Steven J. Edwards's PGN Standard document.
