It should be somewhat faster if you've got a pentium based computer. I'm no tech geek so don't ask me how much faster it really is.

On my computer, a slow 90mhz 586, Dann's compile of Crafty will be a little bit slower (usually) than one I download from Bob's ftp. But on a normal modern Intel Pentium ?? Dann's compile will be faster. If you have an AMD, then who knows.
These speed things are not all that important, we don't really play Chess by counting nps, more important is that Dann does a good job of compiling programs. That fact that they're fast and he gets them compiled real fast, is just a side benifit.
