That's funny. Because on the web page of the author, it mentions opening book knowlege, but maybe I just did not understand what the author was saying.

Maybe it's a small internal book to avoid bad opening moves? I was looking for a book for Crux, but after reading the webpage I discovered that it was internal, which explains the size of the executable. The new version changes that, or so the author claims. I don't use programs without books (unless it's possible to create them yourself) or with permanent ponder.
Best wishes...

'There is no opening book yet in the winboard version.' - says the author on his webpage.
But there seems to be a small internal book containing very few moves.
