Dusan Dobes has a webpage at:
http://www.crosswinds.net/~dobes/phalanx/
What's the commandline you use with the Corbit compilation?
Best wishes...

Would you please let me know the configuration you are using in the winboard.ini for Yace 0.18. My eMail address is utzingerkurt@hotmail.com. Many thanks.

Generally you can't just reuse the commandline in the WinBoard.ini. Mine reads:
\"Phalanx_22c -l+ -t32768 -r500 -o-\" /fd=c:\\Engines\\PhalanxC
for the Corbit version and
\"Phalanx_22 -l+ -t32768 -r500\" /fd=c:\\Engines\\Phalanx
for the Dobes version.
I suggest checking with Franks setup pages at
http://www.in-trier.de/~quisinsky/schach/uebersicht.htm
before installing a new engine. The english translation/interpretation is close to understandable :o)).
Best wishes...

I only use the name of the executable and the path:
\"Yace_018\" /fd=c:\\Engines\\Yace
The options are changed in the yace.ini file. Mine reads:
log yace.log
hash 32M
resign on
rmoves 3
rscore -6

ussually when i am testing programs for the first time i just type the programs
name in the start up box, for example: the first game after downloading phalanx i just typed "phalanx" in the white side and clicked ok to play a game.
is that ok? or thus it make a differance?
thanks

Quite a few engines require options like xboard, -xboard or xb to function at all, which is why Frank's pages are so useful.
In the case of the Corbit Phalanx the option -o- is essential. You could try "phalanx -o-" and see if it works. The option is not required with the Dobes version.
