I don't understand the objection, but from conversations on CCC, I think Mogens has a distaste of some kind for opening books. Or maybe there is some other reason he is so angry about a bigger book for your program. I find it kind of puzzling.
The question of opening books or not has nothing to do with this specific case and I think you're quite aware of that. At least you should be. As you might know, a lot of people, myself included, believe that the opening book is an integrated part of the program. Therefore the deadline for new programs stands for books as well. The package delivered on monday had to be complete, it's very simple.
Best wishes...
Mogens

Well done guys. I'm not used to seeing people apologising and laying matters to rest on the 'net'.

I don't need anyone to help, as I will eventually be able to run all the games.
If someone wants to help, that is fine. But (just like Mogens) you may very >well become bitterly dissapointed with the contest proceedings.
I have decided that I cannot possibly please everyone, so I am only going to >do what I think is right. Half will be offended and half will not.
That's life, I guess.
But for those who help, do you insist that they only use the standard book, chosen by the programmer?
And for those that don't have one like Amy, you use one made from 2600.pgn games?

Personally, this issue i feel is quite insignificant . Ideally , the default opening book should be used..SInce this gives the program it's character..But if every programmer wants to use books made up from the wonderful 2600.pgn , so be it..

So far, for what's it's worth regarding the 2 main issues , I agree with you.
Aaron
