1.Is there a way to alter the hash settings when running sos under winboard,my problem is that it runs fine with my machine that has 64 meg of ram but pages badly with my other machine that has 32 meg.
2.When trying to run sos with wbengine(computer v computer testing)it fails to start, the crucial line in sos.cui is
command c:\program files\winboard\sos c:\tb\
I hope someone knows what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in anticipation

SOS hashtables are fixed at 20MB I believe so you can not change them. As far as setting up SOS, on my machine I have the executable, and the and the cygwin.dll file in the directory c:\program files\winboard\sos. My winboard lines are:
\"SOS c:\\tablebases\" /fd=\"c:\\Program Files\\WinBoard\\SOS\"
under the firstprogram names
\"SOS c:\\tablebases\" /sd=\"c:\\Program Files\\WinBoard\\SOS\"
under the second program names
Depending on where you have placed SOS on your machines, you may have to change the directory listed under fd= and sd=. That should be all you need to get it to run.

I don't think so..Personally I don't understand why some programmers like to do this..Francesa and Gormit3 and 2 are other examples of programs that have fixed hash..

Does it work when only one engine is running..If so, I suspect that when you lack Ram..It takes a long time if not forever to load yp..

Just checking , are you running SOS using the winboard ini file or through command line?

Thanks for your answers men.
You were correct Aaron,my problem with sos with wbengine is lack of ram, when i tried sos with my best computer(64 meg of ram)it worked fine, guess I will have to upgrade the ram in my two old computers, every other winboard engine I have tried so far has worked ok except sos.
Again thanks
