german 1 is very strong, in France 1 TCB was incredible.

Very interesting tournament..
1)USA (Crafty,Insomanic,Arasan) vers Germany 1 (Goliath,Yace,Gormit)
Score 14.5 to 22.5 (Germany 1 won)
Despite the strength of Crafty (won all 3 matches), The US team went down to Germany 1..
I was hoping that Insomanic could do well but it was not able to stand up to losing to Yace,Goliath and Gormit. In fact, Arasan (with 3.5/12) did better than insomanic (2.5/12) against these giants!


2)France 1 (TCB,Anmon,Dragon?) vers Germany 1 (SOS,comet,Amy)
Score 19.0 to 17.0 (France 1 won)
Close match but France won..
Great performances by TCB (which won all 3 matches ) and Anmon (which lost narrowly 1.5 to 2.5 to Amy)
Interestingly,Dragon was chosen over Zchess to represent France 1. This weakness could be come apparant when facing Germany 1 (the Favourite in my book)

3)England (Francesa,GLC ,new rival)vers United Countries bionic,phalanx,lampchop)
Games in progress.......
But it looks like the England team is going down..
Francesa looks outclassed by Phalanx and Bionic, while new rival is weaker than Lampchop. But GLC is a newcomer that can upset things.

United Countries is very strong with 2 first ranked engines (Phalanx and bionic and a old but still strong lampchop)
I think a interesting match will be United countries (what is this?) vers USA

Predictions for final placing
1)Germany 1 (Yace, Goliath, Gormit)
This superstar team is almost unbeatable. Yace is in my view probably second only to Crafty at Blitz(lightning?) time limits. Goliath is also almost as strong, 40 moves in 2 minutes means that it won't lose on time..
Gormit3.0 is a steady engine.The new versons are better at blitz. It won't win by 4-0 margins, but it should win..
2)France 1 (TCB,Anmon, Dragon)
In TCB and Anmon, France A team has 2 members that can handle anyone. This is espically true for TCB which seems to excel at this time controls.Unfortunately, I have doubts about Dragon, which is likely to lose quite a few points in every match.
3)Germany 2 (SOS,Comet, Amy)
This team does not look as strong as it first appears. IMHO all 3, SOS,Comet and Amy don't excel at Blitz. If this was a longer say G/30 match, they could probably be rivalling Germany 1..But ...this is Blitz.
4)USA 1 (Crafty,insomanic, Arasan) and UC (Phalanx,Bionic, Lampchop)- tie?
Interesting match up..Both teams have two top 10 engines, and a fairly strong third member. No idea how strong insomaNC IS really though..UC might surprise by edging out Germany 2 for third though..
5)England (Francesa, GLC, New rival)
Hmm..How well does Francesa play at Blitz? Same question for GLC..
6)Swiss
DISCLAIMER: Since this is played at 40 moves in 2 mins, which is quite a unusual time control (why not 40 moves in 5 minutes?), my guesses may be quite off..
