Crafty - Yace for Nunn 2 Test positions

I played 80 Games (G/20) Yace 0.22 pre (almost unmodified from 0.21)
against Crafty 17.10 (AMD K6-2 300, 10 MB hash, 4 men and some 5 men table bases, ponder off, book not used)
Each of the 20 Nunn positions was played twice, once with black and
once with white. Then the test was repeated with one modified engine
paremeter for Yace. Results:
Default parameters: Crafty 24.5, Yace 13.5
null_high=4.0 : Crafty 21.0, Yace 19.0
So against Crafty, setting a bigger null_high seems superior.
Of course, repeating this test against a different engine and
with longer time control would be interesting. Unfortunately it
takes an immense amount of time.
Regards,
Dieter

Good to see, such results.
These few days, I'm a little busy hence I was not able to run the Nunn Tests, but my testing with both null_high and null_low of 4 seems to also indicate that Yace plays better against crafty using those settings..
I don't remember the score, but I think it still lost quite badly to Crafty, but not as badly as the default..
Setting null_high=4.0 alone looks even better..
But it's really hard to beat Crafty at Nunn positions..Than in regular games, it seems to play a lot better..

Interesting to see if this setting of null_high=4.0 hurts it's performance against other engines..
Brice Boissel who has already tested yace0.20 against various opponents, is well poised to test these new settings of Null_high 4, to see if these settings are good against other opponents..
How about it Brice?
