Program Learn Files

I am currently running Lg_v2.8 against various other winboard programs.
I've noticed Lg is really killing certain programs(tcb,Sos). When I checked
the games I notice alot of repeat openings. I have now changed the ini file
so learning is off. My question is will this prevent this program from playing
favorable openings OR is it too late? I've played about 120+ games so the
learn file is larger.
Second question: do most tournament players turn off the learning functions
in their winboard tournaments?

You could just delete the learn file, because the information isn't written into the book as well.
I don't turn off learning, because it's a feature of the program. It's objectively impossible to make everything absolutely fair anyway, due to differences in learning, opening books and access to tablebases. The number of permutations covered by the different programs makes equality very difficult.
Best wishes...

Thanks Mogens. I just deleted the learn file on my home computer and it worked.
I tried it at work and it wouldn't let me. I'll try again tomorrow. I've stopped
my match play for now pending my decision on learn files. I've been relying
on Rebel to get rid of the duplicates but these games are not being weeded out
due to the different number of moves.
