Hi!
Is this version suppose to work under Fritz 6?? Because I doesn't. It always say's "illegal move a1-a1 please try again" I'm just wondering why this happends.
Thanks,
Phil

Well It won't work. No mater what i do!!! It keeps saying "illegal move a1-a1 please try again" It goes though all the book moves but after about 5 seconds of thinking it just doesn't work... All my other 29 winboard engines work just fine! Oh well I'm not going to cry over it ;)
I'm not sure what you mean by configurations. I do the same for all winboard engines just make a folder in the /engines folder name it Dragon311 put all the files in there and make a .eng file using the one on chessbase and name it Dragon311. I do this for all Winboard engines, it works just fine for them.
Do I have to do anything special with Dragon? Like rename a file or something?
I tried everything...
Oh well. Thanks for your help Frank. Nice webpage! :)

Phil.
Hi,
thanks for these compliments.
Phil, you are not the first user with problems. In the CSS Forum has a user the same problems and 2 other user wrote me an eMail with the same problems !
And now ?
I can play with Dragon under Fritz SP1 with the latest adapter (Aug. 99).
I can not help and not see problems, unfortunately !
My Dragon_311.init:
-
[Parameter]
CommandLine = xboard
Engine = Dragon 3.11
Author = Bruno Lucas, France
Debug = False
[Support]
AnalyzeMode = False
PonderMode = False
CastleAndEP = False
-
My Dragon_311.ini
-
c:\chess\edwards
20
-
20 = 32 MB for hashtables !
c:\Chess\CBase\Fritz6\Engines\Dragon_311.eng
c:\Chess\CBase\Fritz6\Engines\Dragon_311\Dragon_311.exe
c:\Chess\CBase\Fritz6\Engines\Dragon_311\Dragon.ini
c:\Chess\CBase\Fritz6\Engines\Dragon_311\Dragon_311.init
c:\Chess\CBase\Fritz6\Engines\Dragon_311\Dragon_bib
c:\Chess\CBase\Fritz6\Engines\Dragon_311\Nom_ECO.txt
c:\Chess\Edwards (for the edwards TBs)
For the TB directorys (Nalimov, Edwards) please
use not more than 8 letter !
(I think it is better)
I use Fritz 6 SP1 and following adapter:
Fritz6.exe : 23.01.00, 2.723.840 bytes
*.eng (adapter): 10.08.99, 22.528 bytes
Edwards files : --.--.--, 273.220.864 bytes

I hope this example for configurations solved the problems !
And ...
When you edit a file please set after the last figure an enter !
Example: Dragon_311.init
-
[Parameter]
CommandLine = xboard
Engine = Dragon 3.11
Author = Bruno Lucas, France
Debug = False
[Support]
AnalyzeMode = False
PonderMode = False
CastleAndEP = False*
*
After (e) fals(e) an enter !
Please in all files !
-
Example: Dragon.ini
-
c:\chess\edwards
20*
*
-
After 0 an enter for the next line !
A good editor is Ultra Edit (latest version 7.0b), but you can find a lot of good editors in the internet.
Maybe the reason ?
I don´t know !
Regards
Frank
