I'm not quite sure, but I'm using 24+4+4 with success so far.
Best wishes...

Recently I asked Gerrit Reubold, and he answered as follows:
"I recommend to split the available hashsize with the ratio 5:1:1, for
example 20MB, 4 MB, 4 MB. You can of course deviate from this
recommendation, it won't hurt Bringer much."
Best wishes,

So for 32 Mb you allocate 24Mb to Position tables, 4 Mb to Evaluation and 4 Mb to Pawn hashtables
I'm curious. What if anything does the line
Hash% Pos: 1%/5%, Eval 53%/16%, pawn 99%/80%
mean??
Am I allocating too little memory to the hash table for pawns?

Hi winboarder,

Hash% Pos 1% / 5% means : the positional hashtables are 1% filled, and 5% of the "probes" were successful (a transposition was detected). Note that the remaining 95% of the probes were not useless, they improve the move ordering. The other values mean the same thing: "filled percentage" / "percentage of successful probes".
Note: when you try to optimize hashtable size, pay attention to the second value: if you double (for example) the size of the hashtables, and the "percentage of successful probes" increase from 80% to 82%, the gain is only 2%.
Typical values for the "percentage of successful probes" in the middelgame are 5-10%; 30-40%; 70-80%.
Hope this helps,
Gerrit
