Anyone tried building a book for GLC using the 2600.pgn file?
Using the normal default 15 ply, i got a 2.14 Mb opening book..
What is interesting is that GLC plays a wide range of openings as white..using that book
Including
1 b3 , 1 Nc3 , 1 d3 , 1 g4
Anyone else get the same thing?
On the plus side, it occasionally plays the King's Gambit..
Also it appears that GLC208a still has problems with time management at G/5..
Sorry about that

The opening book was a bit of a hack really in GLC. It was added under time pressure (!) and is a bit simple. It simply stores a binary version of the game tree (rather than a hash table).
When choosing moves from the book GLC currently just makes a list of the available moves from a position, and chooses one completely at random. This behaviour will change in time, but for now thats it I'm afraid.
Yes. I hadn't actually played any games with this type of time control before, so I hadn't seen the problem. It will be fixed in the next release.
